Still Life Drawing

This is a picture drawn of a dice with a ring sitting on top, and a screw to the side. I kept the lighting in mind while drawing this and had to go back a couple times to widen my value range. I like how the ring and screw turned out, and the dice looks okay even though it ended up a little crooked.

The first thing I thought about when starting this drawing was, how could I make a simple concept, a road for instance, more interesting and complex? My answer was to draw a roller coaster, and I found a reference photo to help me. I drew thumbnail sketches to decide what I wanted in my background and I chose to do a Ferris wheel as I thought that would look cool. I put my roller coaster off from the middle so I could fit my Ferris wheel in there nicely. I focused mainly on making the roller coaster look correct and widening its values while the background and Ferris wheel got less attention. The trees were added in when I thought the background looked too empty and I think they fill up the empty space nicely.

In my portrait, I began drawing the face as a general personal and began adding my own details to try to make it look like me. I added values where they seemed appropriate and tried to widen the scale. My favorite part is the hair since I'm bad at drawing hair and I think I managed to do decently on this drawing.

In this drawing, I used a photo of my dog and I together as a reference. Overall, I think my charcoal drawing turned out well. My dog whose name is Gamble turned out great in my opinion in the picture. I messed up a bit on my own face, but this was a learning process for me with charcoal.

While I am not entirely satisfied with the finished product of my 2 point perspective drawing, I am glad that it is at least finished. To be honest, I was very close to crumbling up this drawing a couple times while drawing it, due to the frustration of having to draw something so tedious. The repetitiveness of the windows is thrown off because of their different qualities of shading, which again happened because of my frustration. I like the person I drew in this drawing the best because it was actually the easiest part of the drawing for once.
